Well as much as I love doing my own thing in fashion, sometimes I am a follower without a doubt. Sometimes you see something on someone and you want want want one like a child in a sweet store verging on a tantrum! So needless to say - I had made up my mind that I wanted to get myself one! Given I have two nights out this weekend, I realised online wasn't going to satisfy my impatience and I would need to hit the stores in search of the perfect blouse. Well no not perfect, just a pretty blouse would do.
Well I'm guessing you know how this ends!!
I'll start from the beginning though and given the success of my much loved Maxi I thought I would check out New Look first. Now here comes another rant - apologies in advance. I flounced into the store and wow in their main range the have screeds and screeds of gorgeous blouses in warm tones that I loved - check out this little number!
Ruffle Button Chiffon Blouse £22.99
Then I saw this lovely and it was reduced -
Apricot crinkle blouse reduced to £13.00
Then I got to the Inspire Range - and guess what - NADA, NOTHING, ZILCH!!! One token attempt at a pretty blouse -
Now don't get me wrong - nothing wrong with this blouse - except it's not really a blouse. The body is Viscose and frankly clingy and unforgiving and its a pull on top! I wanted a lovely floaty blouse that looked pretty and made me feel pretty. A blouse with buttons up the front - you know that way that blouses do! It's not as though I am asking that they carry something it would be ridiculous that a bigger girl would want to wear (well not that I think anything like that exists!) but anyway! All I wanted was a nice, normal, light floaty blouse! Even the Tall range was in on the game with some lovely blouses in gorgeous corals and peach. In fact I found it quite disappointing to look at the corals, peaches and warm tones throughout the store - and to look at the Inspire Range and see we were being short changed.
Anyway after New Look I ventured into Next, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Marks & Spencer and Monsoon. Hmmmmmmmm - not too impressed at all. With the exception of Monsoon with this lovely number, no one came close! As much as I loved this blouse - £55 is a bit over my budget for a blouse for lunches with the ladies or nights in the local pub!
So with despair and an utter frustration I plodded along to my local 24 hr Asda Wallmart. The cats needed new cat milk - not every hour is glamour you know :-)!
So before I got myself along to the pet aisle for the cats I found myself browsing George at Asda - why not - the high street chains are letting me down so lets see what Mr friendly superstore can do for me - and hey presto - BINGO!!
I came home with two lovely blouses -
Pussy bow blouse £10!!!
and
Now don't get me wrong - these aren't the peachy floaty blouses I had hoped for but for the price I cannot grumble. It's a sad state of affairs when Reliable George at Asda has more choice than stores that are meant to cater to plus sizes!
Anyway ladies - I promise I won't just grumble all the time. The more fashion has became my focus the more I realise how much plus size girls are missing out that's all but I appreciate there are some diamonds out there too!
Have a lovely weekend
Rachael xx
